Submission to the 2009 Wacom Dreams Contest
I have always liked Ansel Adam's work, and he was part of my recent inspiration to take up Photography as a hobby and possibly semi-professional job. A small dream of mine is to achieve even a small fraction of Ansel Adam's talent to realize and capture those scenes of nature that give people pause, a moment to reflect in awe at the beautiful creation around us.
Black and white is particularly inspiring, as it requires a photographer to actually analyze his scene and draw out detail on all levels, addressing contrast, dynamic range, scene balance, etc. Color can also sometimes be distracting, taking away a certain essence of a scene that can be realized by its removal.

Oh wow. As the image was slowly loading up, I started feeling smaller and smaller. I am certainly a bit intimidated by how large the mountains look. This is a wonderful shot and you did a great job bringing out the smaller details like the trees and shadowed crags in the rock.
